Celebrating the past and sustaining it for the future... |
|
We CARE about the places that matter in Wisconsin! We want to work with you to protect, preserve and sustain our state's special and irreplaceable historic sites.
How We Will Serve Wisconsin
- We will PROTECT places and landscapes that are valued by the citizens of our state.
- We will work to PRESERVE the structures, sites and buildings that represent Wisconsin's cultural heritage.
- We will stress the connection between historic preservation and environmental SUSTAINABILITY and promote the idea that the greenest building is one that already exists.
The Wisconsin Trust for Historic Preservation will be working to bring together a coalition of like-minded groups and individuals to effectively promote historic preservation at the local, state and national levels. We will facilitate communication throughout the state among those who are bound by the shared belief that historic preservation makes sense economically, encourages cultural awareness and helps to sustain our environment.
We want to assist you in developing vital communication networks for your neighborhoods and communities and also help you to celebrate your successes in a way that generates positive interest in historic preservation.

Some Places that Matter in Wisconsin
Places that matter in Wisconsin are all around us. Buildings and settings that speak to us of a different time are important because they reveal much about Wisconsin's heritage. This sampling of images from across the state reflects a spectrum of building types, from simple vernacular structures to our state’s monuments. Each contributes to a larger story.
